What I Thought

So first, let us talk about the first book Genesis Girl! The first book set up a completely compelling world! In the future there are Vestals, people who have never had a single picture taken of them and are brought up to be the model human. These Vestals must protect their privacy and lives from those around them who are too obsessed with technology to worry about how much of themselves belongs to the internet. Blanca is a Vestal and she is such an interesting main character, her actions and thoughts make the book compelling and difficult to put down because she is starting to learn what being a Vestal is really all about, and whether it is really worth it. There’s scandal, intrigue, and a bit of a discovering yourself narrative. I really like that this book explores the effects of digital media and how people become addicted to it. The plot was incredibly fun to read! I can always count on Month 9 Books to put out truly compelling books that keep me reading to the last page and into the wee hours of the morning!

Now, Damaged Goods! I always flounder when writing reviews for sequels because you don’t want to give things away! Blanca is back and this time she is faced with forming relationships after trauma, the chaos of another encroaching Vestal-like group the Guardians, and still trying to adjust to her new life. This book is full of surprises just like it’s predecessor and was just as compelling to read. This installment ups the ante and really brings the story of Blanca to new light!

I highly recommend this book to anyone that enjoys a good YA dystopian a la Uglies, Divergent, or Maze Runner!

Read the book that started it all!
