The Book Drop | Book Subscription Box Review

This spring I had the honor of being a Rep for The Book Drop for 3 months from March to May! I had previously paid for this subscription box until I started saving to purchase my first home and had to stop my subscription so I knew I would enjoy representing this box. I chose to receive the YA box previously and for this Rep opportunity, so that will be the specific box I will be reviewing.

March book: A Short History of the Girl Next Door by Jared Reck

The Book Drop is a subscription box run by Bethany Beach Books in Delaware, BBB is a beautiful bookstore run by some truly passionate book people. I live in DE and make a trip down to the store every once in a while to go to events and just to enjoy the beach and book shopping. The subscription always includes a paperback book and a postcard with why they chose the book for $10.99 + Shipping for the YA subscription. The “box” also usually comes with a signed bookplate/the book is signed and a bookmark. Occasionally other goodies like pins, letters from the author, etc. may be included.

April book: The Queen’s Rising by Rebecca Ross

I love this subscription because it is one of the most cost effective subscriptions out there for people who just want a surprise book with none of the frills and filler of other boxes. While I love book merch and prints, I don’t use many of the items I’ve gotten from other boxes. This one is perfect for the frugal book lover who likes paperbacks and doesn’t buy books immediately when they come out in hardcover. During my Rep period I did not receive any books that I already owned, mainly because I feel The Book Drop chooses books that aren’t just the most talked about, and I also haven’t been buying many books in the past year. They really put some thought into the books they pick so that you get a decent variety.

May book: You Bring the Distant Near by Mitali Perkins

In conclusion, I love this subscription and I wish I could afford to keep it going now that I am no longer an ambassador, I just don’t have the expendable income right now. I appreciate the simplicity of this box and the care with which the staff of Bethany Beach Books takes to make their choices and packing the packages. This is a great way to support a local, independent bookstore if you don’t have one near you or just because you love them!

Other boxes curated by indie bookstores: Parnassus Next (Parnassus Books), Monthly Magic (Books are Magic)
